Which planet is Hottest?

Very strange that the closest planet to the sun is not the Hottest: there are eight planets orbiting around the sun. The closest one is Mercury due to this reason it gets the most amount of direct heat from the sun but interestingly it's not the hottest planet, why that's so?
Mercury doesn't  have the Atmosphere, that can hold the heat on the planet, due to this any heat that reaches to mercury is sent back in quick time and is lost in the space. While the second nearest planet to the sun is Venus, which has its own atmosphere that is of CO2 where Pressure is high, so the heat from the sun is absorbed by the surface and is not lost in the space, that's one of the reasons that Venus is the hottest planet orbiting around the sun.

It's thought that any atmosphere that Mercury might have had may have been stripped away by the solar wind. That caused it to lose its ability to retain heat. (Interesting factoid: Mercury is tidally locked with the sun in a 3:2 resonance, which means that it rotates on its axis exactly three times for every two revolutions around the sun it makes. This allows the night side of Mercury to get surprisingly cold for being so close to the sun, with nightly "low temperatures" at 100 K (−173 °C; −280 °F).)

Yeah, that's the detailed reason behind, and it is also very interesting that Mercury's surface shrinks due to the cooling effect of the iron core, because when it cools at night then the planet solidifies and the planet's volume is decreased and shrinks can be felt.
