Scientists say that vinyl cyanide, a substance that could work in the place of lipids to form a cellular membrane, has been discovered on Titan. Signs of this substance were detected by the Cassini probe and confirmed by the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) in Chile. Scientists caution that the presence of vinyl cyanide is not necessarily a "smoking gun" that means Titan hosts life, but see it as another positive sign that Titan has the ingredients for life.
